By 2030, Make in Andhra Pradesh envisions establishing the state as a global leader in sustainable fisheries and aquaculture, with the following key objectives:

  • Becoming a Leader in Fish Production: Positioning Andhra Pradesh as a top producer of freshwater and marine fish, significantly contributing to India’s Blue Economy.
  • Expanding Freshwater Aquaculture: Developing 15,000 hectares of tank and pond areas across 30 districts, adopting modern, science-driven aquaculture practices.
  • Boosting Fish Seed and Feed Production: Setting up 20 advanced hatcheries with a combined annual capacity of 30 crore fish seed, and establishing feed mills to produce 30,000 tonnes of high-quality fish feed per year.
  • Generating Employment Opportunities: Creating 1 lakh direct and indirect jobs, empowering fishers, entrepreneurs, and rural communities across the state.
  • Fostering Sustainable Coastal Aquaculture: Introducing targeted incentives and programs to enhance the production of shrimp, fish, and other marine species, ensuring ecological and economic sustainability.

  1. Promoting Sustainable Aquaculture:Develop 15,000 hectares of freshwater aquaculture ponds by 2030, leveraging scientific methods to boost productivity while ensuring sustainability.
  2. Scaling Fish Seed Production:Set up 20 advanced hatcheries with a combined capacity of 30 crore fish seed annually to meet the growing demands of aquaculture farmers.
  3. Encouraging Marine Fisheries Development: Support deep-sea fishing and marine aquaculture by providing incentives for shrimp hatcheries, marine fish culture, and offshore fisheries, contributing significantly to India’s Blue Economy.

Developing Sustainable Freshwater and Marine Aquaculture

Andhra Pradesh will expand freshwater aquaculture by developing 15,000 hectares of ponds and advancing marine fisheries through initiatives like shrimp farming, vannamei culture, and deep-sea fishing. Emphasizing sustainable practices, the state aims to boost productivity while preserving ecological balance, ensuring lasting benefits for both fishers and the environment.

Andhra Pradesh will establish 20 new fish hatcheries to address the increasing demand for high-quality fish seed, empowering aquaculture farmers to boost their production. Additionally, the state will set up three feed mills with a combined annual capacity of 30,000 tonnes of premium fish feed, supporting sustainable and efficient aquaculture practices.

Strengthening Post-Harvest Infrastructure and Marketing

To strengthen the fisheries value chain, Andhra Pradesh will establish advanced post-harvest infrastructure, including processing units, cold storage facilities, and dedicated fish export hubs. The policy also outlines the construction of 100 km of approach roads and the provision of dedicated power feeders to fishery clusters, ensuring better market access and enhancing export capabilities.

Supporting Fisheries Cooperatives and Entrepreneurs

The policy will encourage the establishment of fisheries cooperatives and foster entrepreneurship in the sector.
